Brian Peter Band Director

Mr. Peter has been director of instrumental music and the department chair of the performing arts department at Westlake High School since the 2006-2007 school year, after spending four years at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley.

Mr. Peter graduated from the University of Southern California in 2001 and holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education and is currently working on his masters in music education through the University of Southern Oregon. He has been inducted into the 2004, 2005, and 2006 Who's Who among America's High School teachers and was nominated for the 2005 Disney Hand Teacher Award for creativity in teaching.

Mr. Peter performed with the Blue Devils "A" Corps playing top bass in 1997 and snare in 1998. He has been on the Blue Devils "A" corps marching staff since 2000, instructed the Blue Devils "B" Corps pit 1999-2001, and was the 2002 BDB visual caption head. Mr. Peter has also worked six seasons as Toy Solider drummer in the Disneyland Christmas Fantasy Parade 1998-2002, 2004.

Mr. Peter's professional affiliations include the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the International Association of Jazz Educators.
