You are visiting the Official website of the Westlake Instrumental Music Department. This site is owned and operated by the Boosters (an active and dedicated group of parents and faculty) with NO TAXPAYER MONEY WHATSOEVER.
We are not an Internet Service Provider (ISP). We do not provide any method for students to access the Internet in general. This site exists to assist Band members and their parents and to present their significant achievements to the world.

Why we record it:Presently, we record the following items: IP address/Host name, date/time, files requested, and who referred them and their browser type. For example, this is what we see if someone looks at our list of staff e-mails:

We gather statistics on the files viewed by our visitors for the purpose of determining which parts of the site are of most interest to guests, what days and times our guests visit the site, and what (if any) errors are encountered so that we may correct them. This information will not be correlated to a particular individual, but will allow us to perform routine maintenance and to focus on supporting and improving the sections of our site that are most valued by our guests.Who we sell/distribute it to:
No one. We cherish the First Amendment and a citizen's right to privacy. We are not a "for-profit" group and will not sell, lend, or distribute information on our visitors in any way. If presented with a court-order, we will surrender any and all available records. However, it is our intention to retain information for only as long as necessary for the purposes stated above and we intend to routinely purge logs.
This is a site dedicated to High School students. Because these students are minors, we will take extra precautions to protect them and their identities and try to shelter them to a greater degree than adults on the web. We will comply with Federal, State and local laws at all times and we will take our lead from the local school district as to what information we allow on the Internet. Specifically,
- We will not identify students' pictures with their full names.
- We will not provide phone numbers or addresses for students
- We will immediately report any questionable incidents or contacts to the appropriate authorities. As appropriate, we may publish works (photos, songs, stories, etc.) authored by students where we credit them by name. Prior to making their works public, we will require a parental release. However, the copyright will remain with the student(s) or other lawful owner.
